Made my day: Flakked replies to his past self after winning 2022 LEC trophy

We would almost forget that pro players were once kids with a dream they thought unreachable. Case in point: G2 Esports’ AD carry, Victor “Flakked” Lirola.

Once upon a time, a 15-year-old Victor messaged coach and retired pro player Alvar “Araneae” Martin Alenar seeking guidance:

“Araneae, I’m 15 and am in Master [tier], do you think I could dedicate myself to pro League of Legends?” Flakked asked back then, not knowing what awaited him.

Flakked ended up in the professional circuit one year after the tweet and struggled in S2V Esports. Then came more disappointment in 2020 as he was unable to make it through the 2020 European Masters play-in stage, or to EU Masters for the three splits that followed.

But it was all worth it in the end as he lifted the trophy every LoL player in Europe dreams of lifting: the LEC’s.

“You don’t know how hard the road was, and you’re only getting started,” he said, addressing his tweet from his current Twitter account. “I wrote this tweet in one of the most anxious moments in my life, and I answer it in one of my happiest.”

In some ways, things do come full circle; don’t they? Leave it to our previous colleague, Fosty, to point that out: on the right is a picture a young Flakked took with his future boss, Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez Santiago, in 2017.

Adel primarily covers League of Legends, with a particular emphasis on League of Legends esports competitions. He has over 10 year of experience covering the LEC and other LoL competitive events across Europe.
