According to French journalist neLendirekt, former CS:GO pro Kenny “kennyS” Schrub has been trialing in VALORANT and might be joining OG’s lineup soon.
The news comes as little surprise, as the French AWPer has been flirting with Riot’s game for a while now. Still benched by G2, kennyS was rumored to be joining several VALORANT teams in 2021.
After being replaced in G2’s lineup by Audric “JACKZ” Jug early last year, he turned to streaming while waiting for a new opportunity to compete. Despite plenty of interest from VALORANT teams and a very public flirt with Alliance’s general manager James Banks, he decided to give CS:GO one last try at the end of last year.
In an interview with Dexerto, he talked about his plans for the future: “Honestly, I don’t even know if my future is still in CS:GO,” kennyS said. “I love the game and I wish things could have been different. I wish I could change that, but I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity.”
He stood in for G2 in ESL’s IEM Winter event and was rumored to form a new team with former teammate Francois “AMANEK” Delaunay.I’m told for days that kennyS is trialing on VALORANT and that he will join the VALORANT OG team. Good for him, even tho I would prefer to see him in CS obviously.— neL (@neLendirekt) April 25, 2022
But according to neLendirekt, who has a strong reputation as a reporter on the French scene, he has now turned to explore his options in VALORANT.
OG entered VALORANT in early 2021 but struggled to make much of an impact. They tried rebuilding their roster just a couple of months ago, signing a fully French lineup, but have since made several adjustments to their lineup.
