The LEC Summer Playoff Round 2 elimination match between Fnatic and Misfits Gaming will occur in the LEC studios on Friday, Aug. 20. Riot Games directly announced the news to journalists covering the LEC.
The German health authorities greenlit the event, which takes place more than two weeks after Fnatic top laner Adam “Adam” Maanane’s positive COVID-19 case. Upon turning a negative test after his initial contamination, he rejoined his teammates ahead of Friday.
The LEC previously held Fnatic vs. Team Vitality remotely as Adam was in quarantine. The top laner played remotely, whereas his teammates—who tested negative—played from Fnatic’s office.
As a result, Fnatic will play their first playoff stage games with Adam on the lineup, facing Misfits—who lost a closely fought five-game series against Rogue. The winner of the high-stakes matchup faces G2 Esports for the remaining LEC Worlds spot, and the loser drops out from Worlds contention.
